Second Wave of Covid-19: Are States Readying For Lockdown 2.0?

With COVID-19 Infections on the rise again, after showing a considerable slump, fears of the Second wave of the pandemic are growing. Not that we were not warned about it. Experts had in fact said that unlocking the country especially at the time of Festivals would mean rising number of COVID-19 cases. This is partly because people grew tired of the lockdown and being at home, partly because people came out in large numbers as it was the festive season.
If we look at the numbers today, India has recorded 44,059 new cases of COVID-19, while 41,024 have been recovered, 2,524 are active cases. The single-day death toll is 511. If we look at the overall numbers then India’s total Covid-19 tally is 91,39,865. 85,62,641 have recovered while active case tally remains at 4,43,486. So far, India recorded 1,33,738 deaths.
As the numbers are on the rise again, several states are contemplating imposing lockdown. Some cities have already opted for less stricter measures such as curfews and shutdowns. We at HW News Network would like to clarify that as such there has been no official lockdown has been announced by the central government. But it is the state govts of various regions which are contemplating implementing the lockdown.
