Why is Modi privatising BPCL?

The government is considering a proposal to sell India’s second-largest fuel retailer BPCL to private firms. The central government is going to sell more than 53% of its stake in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. For this, all preparations have been completed by the government.
