World Refugee Day: 8.5 million uprooted across the Globe

From football to food festivals, to dancing and singing to concerts, millions of people across the globe are taking part in events marking world refugee day, celebrating the strength and flexibility of people who are forced to flee their own home and seek safety elsewhere. The event falls each year on June 20th, which gives a worldwide support for men, women and children who were displaced by conflict and violence. The current figures of refugees is equivalent to the entire population of Thiland, and the number of people forcibly displaced equates to 1 in every 110 persons worldwide. Most of the time we see that the reason behind the displacement of refugees are because of the internal conflict. The main reason is these refugees feel sacred for life in their own nation. On this World Refugee Day, it is time to recognise humanity and challenge ourselves to join them in supporting refugees in our schools, neighbourhoods and workplace. This is where solidarity starts with one and all.
