According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), relief from the heat is expected in northwestern and central India in three days due to an incoming western disturbance. IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra announced that the disturbance, along with moisture from the Arabian Sea, will bring thunderstorms to northwest India and rain to the western Himalayan region.
Additionally, the IMD’s monsoon forecast predicts above-average rainfall for central India in 2024, with the entire country expected to receive above-average rains. Northeast India is expected to have below-normal rainfall, northwest normal, and central and south peninsular regions above-normal.
