On Thursday afternoon, an under-construction silo structure of the factory collapsed killing at least 8 people. According to reports dozens of feared Labourers are still trapped under the structure. The collapse occurred in Chhattisgarh’s iron-making factory in Sargaon, Mungeli.

The incident took place at Rambod village, located under the Sargaon police station area in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli. The injured persons have been rushed to the hospital in Bilaspur. Meanwhile, the rescue operations are ongoing.

According to news agency ANI, Mungeli Collector Rahul Deo said “Police and Administration are present at the spot”. After being alerted, the police and administration reached the spot and launched a rescue operation, Mungeli Collector Rahul Deo informed.

However, the exact number of deaths in the incident is not yet known. Reports suggest that 8 workers are feared dead. Over 25 workers are, buried under the debris after the chimney collapsed.
The officials said that many more workers are reported to be trapped under the collapsed structure and efforts are being made to pull them out.

News agency PTI reported, quoting Mungeli Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel that the silo an iron structure used to store bulk materials crashed, trapping under it some workers present at the site.
