The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday showed how the sequence of dialogue went that led to the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan.

MEA Explains Ceasefire Talks

According to officials, the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) initially was unable to directly reach his Indian counterpart. Thus, the request was instead sent through the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi at around 12:37 PM. The message was given to India’s External Affairs Ministry (MEA) and later was passed on to the armed forces.

The MEA Spokesperson said, “Where India is concerned, our stand was clear and consistent from the start. We would target terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan. If the Pakistani military stayed out, there would be no problem. If they fired on us, we would respond suitably. Till the night of 9th May, Pakistan was threatening India with a massive assault. Once their attempt failed on 10th May morning and received a devastating Indian counter-response, their tune changed and their DGMO eventually reached out to us.”

“That was the reason they were now willing to stop firing and military action. Let me be clear. It was the force of Indian arms that compelled Pakistan to stop its firing,” he said.

He added, “Let me be clear. It was the force of Indian arms that compelled Pakistan to stop its firing.”

PM’s Address At Adampur Airbase

PM Modi earlier addressed the country and the Indian Air Force (IAF) from Adampur Airbase.

“Pakistan will not get any sleep for a long time just thinking of our drones and missiles. IAF targeted terror bases deep inside Pakistan with speed and precision that left the enemy stunned. Pakistan’s ‘naapak’ intentions have been defeated every single time by our armed forces,” PM Modi said in the afternoon from the airbase.

“Godfathers of terrorism have realised that casting an evil eye on India will only mean their destruction.”

PM Modi Visits Adampur

Pakistan had earlier claimed to have done damage to the air base after its strikes during the night

Just days after Operation Sindoor was launched, PM Modi went to the Adampur Air Base. He met the air force personnel and interacted with them. This comes shortly after Pakistan and India agreed to have a ceasefire.

Pakistan had targeted the Adampur air force base on the nights of 9th and 10th May. This was also after the Sindoor operation.

Pakistan’s Claims About Adampur Airbase

The visit of the Prime Minister to the Adampur Air Base is important. Pakistan had earlier claimed to have done damage to the air base after its strikes during the night. India had already averted a lot of the missiles and rockets that Pakistan had fired using its defence system. Pictures from the visit show that the base was not damaged and quite well.

India’s Denial Of Pakistan’s Claims

But, India denied the claims from Pakistan of having damaged the site. Satellite images also showed that none of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Bases were really damaged by Pakistan.

PM Modi later wrote on X, “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “Every Indian is extremely proud of the courage and valour of our brave soldiers.”

“Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji met the brave soldiers at Adampur Airbase and boosted their morale. The valour of our three armies and armed forces has become synonymous with zero tolerance against terrorism across the world.”

PM Modi on Monday addressed the nation about the Indian armed forces. He said, “Operation Sindoor is now India’s established policy in the fight against terrorism, marking a decisive shift in India’s strategic approach.”
