“Sena didn’t object when we pitched Fadnavis as CM before polls” : Amit Shah

Replying to ShivSena’s allegations, Amit Shah said that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari invited the political parties only after the end of the Assembly tenure.

New Delhi| BJP President Amit Shah finally broke his silence on the Maharashtra impasse and said that there was no agreement on rotational CM post between BJP and ShivSena. His statement came when the age-old ally of the saffron party has accused the BJP of lying. Shah said that earlier no one had raised objections when PM Modi and he had publicly projected Devendra Fadnavis as the party’s chief ministerial candidate in Maharashtra, if the alliance wins the Assembly elections.

In an interview to a news agency, he said, “Nobody objected back then. Now they have come up with new demands, which are unacceptable to us.”

Shah did not hide the details of the agreement between its allies, saying it is not the values of the BJP to bring in public whatever is discussed in private.

ShivSena had also alleged that while the party got only one day despite demanding two more days, BJP was allowed three days to stake claim to the government. Replying to ShivSena’s allegations, Amit Shah said that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari invited the political parties only after the end of the Assembly tenure. “Neither the Shiv Sena nor the Congress-NCP claimed and neither did BJP. Even if today any party has the numbers, it can approach the Governor,” Shah stated.

When asked about the possibility of re-election, he said that he is not in favour of the mid-term polls.
