Nitish Kumar said that he would try to bring the opposition parties together to discuss and tackle people’s difficulties and create a better social environment.
Mumbai: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, stated that his party’s desire to become prime minister is not currently on his mind, days after igniting a major political uproar by abandoning the state’s co-ruling coalition with the BJP. Speaking to reporters in Delhi today, Mr. Kumar said that he would make an effort to bring the opposition parties together and that they should all cooperate.
On August 10, after taking the oath to serve as the chief minister of Bihar for the eighth time, Nitish Kumar made fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying, “Win won in 2014, but will he in 2024?” When asked if he wanted to run for prime minister at the time, he had already assured reporters that he is “not a contender for anything.”
“The question to ask is if the person who came in 2014 will win in 2024,” he said.
When asked about it again, he folded his hands and stated, “I don’t think about it. Whatever individuals may say, even if they are close to me.” He continued by saying that it would be excellent if all opposition parties collaborated and that it was his responsibility to make that effort. “We will all discuss people’s difficulties and ways to create a better social environment,” he added.
In a floor test on August 24, the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan administration in Bihar will have to demonstrate its majority in the state assembly.
According to Mr. Kumar, the cabinet will likely be expanded before August 15. According to sources, the Janata Dal-United won’t have as many ministers as the RJD. Currently the Grand Alliance or Mahagathbandhan has support of 164 members in the assembly.
