Lucknow| Hotspots across 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh – places which have high number of cases of coronavirus – will be sealed till April 15, the state Chief secretary said today. The sealing will begin at midnight, the officer said, assuring that 100 per cent home delivery of essential items will take place in these areas.
The list includes Lucknow, Gautam Buddh Nagar which includes the industrial township of Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Agra, Shamli and Saharanpur.
Uttar Pradesh has so far seen 326 cases of coronavirus, three patients have died and 21 have recovered.
Speaking to News18, Chief Secretary RK Tiwari said the decision was taken due to the high load of cases reported from the hotspots. “In an attempt to avoid community spread of COVID-19, the state government has decided to lock down the hotspots in 15 districts. People related to health and delivery services will be allowed to operate in these hotspots. Also, 100% home delivery of essential items will be ensured.”
The exact details of how the UP government plans to shut down parts of these 15 districts will be released at a press conference around 4 pm.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari said the Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh will hold a review of the decision next on April 13.
Coronavirus cases have been reported from 37 districts of Uttar Pradesh with the number climbing to 326 on Wednesday. Of the total cases, 166 are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat. So far, the UP authorities have identified 1,600 people associated with the Jamaat. Of them, 1,200 have been quarantined.
Uttar Pradesh has so far reported three coronavirus deaths, one each from Basti, Meerut and Varanasi.
