Approximately 21 children in an Indore orphanage have reported severe abuse and torture by staff, according to the police. The Child Welfare Committee discovered the horror during a surprise inspection. The children claimed they were subjected to torture for minor errors, including being hung upside down, branded with a hot iron, and photographed after being stripped. They were also forced to inhale smoke from burning red chillies. An FIR has been filed against five orphanage employees, and an investigation is underway.
