Kabul Evacuation Among The “Most-Difficult” In History: US President Joe Biden

“We have worked with Afghanistan for 20 years,” Biden said. “We still have 6,000 troops in Kabul.”

US President Joe Biden addressed the nation late Friday night on the latest developments in Afghanistan. This was his second address in 4 days. Meanwhile, Biden said that the world is facing a big crisis at the moment.

“We have evacuated more than 18,000 people from Kabul since July and about 13,000 since August 14. Our forces are involved in the most difficult and largest airlift operation in history, but we will not leave any American behind. The situation there is not very good for the Taliban either,” Joe Biden said in his address.

He assured that our troops would remain in Kabul until all Americans left. “We have worked with Afghanistan for 20 years,” Biden said. “We still have 6,000 troops in Kabul. If the Taliban attacks the US military, it will not be tolerated at all,” he added. He also said that we will take a big decision on Afghanistan next week.

Highlights of Biden’s speech

“Our troops are guarding Kabul Airport. This is evacuating people not only from military flights but also from chartered planes of other countries.”

“ISIS terrorists are a much bigger threat. NATO countries stand with the United States. Terrorists who have escaped from prison can attack.”

“It was time to end the war in Afghanistan. NATO countries also agreed with this decision. We will take a big decision at the G-7 meeting next week.”

“This mission is very dangerous. The military is running it in difficult conditions despite the risk. I can’t promise what the end result will be. Whatever happens will happen without the risk of loss.”

Earlier, Biden held Afghan president responsible for the crisis

Biden addressed the nation for the first time on Monday-Tuesday night after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. During this time, he blamed President Ashraf Ghani and the leadership for the situation.

“I believe the Taliban took over very quickly. The Afghan leadership laid down arms very quickly. We spent billions of dollars there. Trained the Afghan forces. How could such a large army and armed people accept defeat?” Biden asked.
