Man Rams Car Into Police Barricades At US Capitol Hill Leaving One Policeman Dead, Attacker Shot

After the incident, police closed the entry and exit points of Capitol Hill as a precautionary measure. Security has been increased throughout the region.

 

Washington DC| While the memories of US Capitol Hill attack are in January are still fresh, the American parliament came under another attack on Friday. Firing was reported outside the Capitol Hill building late Friday at 11:30 pm IST. Here a car rider hit the police barricades. He also injured 2 policemen. The police then shot the car driver. He was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition, where he died. The police officer said that he attacked a policeman with a knife. The security personnel also died during treatment.

The Parliament House was closed during the incident. Police appealed to people around to stay indoors. They also instructed people to not stand near the windows. The car rider has been identified as 25-year-old Noah Green. Police have also recovered a knife from the car.

National Guards personnel deployed

After the incident, police closed the entry and exit points of Capitol Hill as a precautionary measure. At the same time security has been increased throughout the region. Both the White House and Vice President Kamala Harris released a statement shortly after the attack condemning the incident. A contingent of National Guard soldiers are marching on the streets and streets of the US Capitol.

The Capitol Police Chief told the media that the suspect had also been killed in the attack. The suspect was not on the radar of the US Capitol Police prior to the attack. He has also ruled out a terrorist attack. However, complete information will be revealed only after investigation.
