Manoj Jarange Patil, a Maratha quota activist, changed his mind today and declared he will not participate in the polls in the Maharashtra Assembly election on November 20, just hours after declaring he would support 10 to 15 candidates. According to Manoj Jarange Patil, he had conversations and decided that he would only take action against anyone who failed to “give justice to Marathas”.
“After careful consideration, I have decided not to field any candidate in the state. The Maratha community will make its own decisions on who should be elected and who should be defeated. “I am not associated with or in favor of any political party or candidate,” he declared.
“No one is putting pressure on me, the community itself will choose who to support,” he stated, adding, “Those who have wronged or harassed the Maratha community should be given a lesson through the ballot.”
“It is impossible to contest an election on the basis of one caste to contest and win. In politics, we are new. It will be a shame for the caste if we put forward a candidate and he loses. So, I ask all Maratha candidates to revoke their nominations,” he said to the media.
