New Delhi | Calling an end to the rumours, AICC spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi today confirmed her resignation from the Congress party.

Taking on twitter, Chaturvedi posted her resignation saying,” I am absolutely overwhelmed and grateful with the love and support I have got across board from the nation in the past 3 days. I consider myself blessed with this immense outpouring of support. Thank you to all who have been a part of this journey..”

Chaturvedi in her resignation wrote she is submitting her resignation from all post and primary membership of Congress party. She wrote that she joined the Congress party 10 years ago as she believed in the ideology and vision of inclusive, liberal and progressive politics.

Stating the reason behind her resignation, Chaturvedi wrote, In the last few weeks certain things have convinced me that my service is not valued in the organisation and that I have reached the end of the road. She further added that the more time I spend in the organisation it will be at the cost of my own self-respect and dignity.

Questioning the safety and dignity of the women in the party, Chaturvedi in the letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi wrote, What saddens me is the despite the safety, dignity, empowerment of women being promoted by the party and has been your call to action, the same is not reflected in the action of some of the party members.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut speaking to News Agency ANI said, Priyanka Chaturvedi will join Shiv Sena today. ” Rumours about Chaturvedi arised after she removed the designation of ‘INC National Spokesperson’ from her Twitter bio overnight along with no mention of the Congress party.

Earlier Chaturvedi had expressed her unhappiness against the Congress party wrote,” Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in Congress over those who have given their sweat&blood. Having faced brickbats&abuse across the board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate.

Chaturvedi quoted a letter which stated that the Uttar Pradesh Congress has decided to grant relief to the leaders who were suspended after Chaturvedi’s complaint. The party further added that the leader have been reinstated following an intervention by Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh West.

Local leader of the Congress party misbehaved with Priyanka Chaturvedi during a press conference in Mathura about the controversial Rafale deal.
