Mumbai: In the midst of the stateβs continuing political upheaval, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a scorching attack on the BJP on Saturday. Uddhav launched an all-out attack on the BJP, ripping into its βfalse Hindustvaβ and attacking Maharashtra BJP president Devendra Fadnavis over his claim that he was present when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya.
βNowadays, they are tracking Dawood and his aides. But Iβm sure if Dawood joins BJP, he will become a saint overnight,β Uddhav Thackeray said.
Earlier this week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted multiple raids on associates of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim across 20 locations in Mumbai.
Uddhavβs Swipe On Inflation
Uddhav Thackerayβs attack on the BJP was not restricted to the Dawood Ibrahim remark during his speech at a huge rally on Saturday evening. He also criticized the party for the countryβs high inflation rate.
He said, βModi ji has given ration but shall we eat in raw? How to cook when cylinder rates are skyrocketing? No one is talking about inflation. Look at what is happening in Sri Lanka and take a lesson from there.β
He added, βAtal Bihari Vajpayee once went to Parliament in a bullock cart because fuel rate was hiked by seven paise. Look at the fuel rates now. BJP is not the same as it was during Atal Bihari Vajpayeeβs time.β
Uddhavβs Jibe On Hindutva
Emphasising that Shiv Senaβs Hindutva is better than the BJPβs, he said, βSome fake Hindutvawadis are misguiding our nation. Balasaheb Thackeray taught us that we donβt need Hindus who ring bells in temples. We want Hindus who can thrash terrorists. Tell us what have you done for Hindutva? You have not even brought down Babri. It was our Shiv Sainiks who did itβ¦ We have saffron blood in our veins. Donβt try to challenge us.β
βWho are you to decide our Hindutva? Just beacause we have gone with Congress we are less Hindutva? Are all parties that joined BJPβs NDA Hindutva parties? What about Nitish Kumar who said the loudspeaker issue is nonsense?β he added.
