“If we look at the percentage of Hindus and Sikhs and other non-Muslim religion in 1952 in Pakistan, there is a large decline in their population
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday tabled the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha, saying the legislation provides hopes for lakhs of people who are living with no permanent residency in India. “CAB will provide the persecuted a chance to provide for their families. People of the country have supported the legislation,”.
“CAB is anti-Bengali and anti-Indian…no one should teach a Bengali about patriotism. This bill is unconstitutional there is no doubt about than if passed this will go to the top court,” Derek O Brien said.
BJP is based on three Js – Jhoot Jhaansa(cheating) Jumla…In the last 5 crores, 2 crore people have lost their job.
“NRC did not work in Assam governments pilot project failed and now they want to introduce this is 27 states,” Derek O Brien said.
Raising objections over the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Kapil Sibal says, “This bill gives legal color to the two-nation theory!”
Sibal said, “Religion cannot be a factor in considering if a person should be granted citizenship. “I request the home minister to withdrawn that allegation because we in Congress believe in that one nation, you don’t believe in that.”
While concluding, Sibal said, “This bill weakens the foundation of our culture and ethos. Don’t convert the secular republic of India into a Jurassic republic.”
Congress leader P Chidambaram, after speaking in the debate on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, said, “It’ is a sad day that elected Parliamentarians are being asked to do something unconstitutional. The Bill is patently unconstitutional. The government says ‘130 crore people are supporting them’, but the entire North East is in flames.
Asserting that the CAB was “not unconstitutional”, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said that Congress was “confused” between the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and is misleading the parliament.
“Earlier Congress had passed a resolution that Hindus from Pakistan should be given citizenship, former prime minister Manmohan Singh mentioned about atrocities on minorities. So, BJP has now acted on this and Article 14 doesn’t bar it. Congress seems confused between CAB and NRC and has misled the Rajya Sabha in some way,” Swamy added.
“If we look at the percentage of Hindus and Sikhs and other non-Muslim religions in 1952 in Pakistan, there is a large decline in their population. The same thing is in Bangladesh. We see news about their persecution on a daily basis,” said Swamy.
On the Opposition’s argument over the exclusion of Sri Lanka and other neighboring countries where minorities face persecution. Swamy said “Sri Lankan Tamils did not come to India for religious persecutions but came due to the war. The government of India has built houses for them and their numbers have decreased. The terms like massacre are just propaganda. This bill is something we need to protect ourselves.”
