There was no role of BJP or the school in the pro-CAA event. If some students support voluntarily, how can the school management be held responsible?”
Mumbai: The Matunga-based school in Mumbai, on January 10, had organized an hour-long program on a public ground next to its campus where local BJP leaders, including corporate Nehal Shah. She had interacted with students studying in classes VIII, IX, X and those in first and second-year of junior college to “spread awareness” and “correct information” about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
After the event was reported in the media, the school education department had issued a show-cause notice to the Matunga-based Shree Dayanand Balak, Balika Vidyalaya, and Junior College.
BJP vice-president Kirit Somaiya on Tuesday demanded strong action against the school education department for serving a notice to a Mumbai based school which was organized last Saturday to give information about CAA and which was attended by students.
In a letter to Vijaysingh Ghatge, Senior Inspector of Matunga police station, Somaiya said, “The pro-CAA campaign was organized by some non-government organization. The function was not held in the school premises. There was no role of BJP or the school in the pro-CAA event. If some students support voluntarily, how can the school management be held responsible?” He claimed that the move was tantamount to the ministry harassing the school.
Kirit Somaiya spoke exclusively to HW news network and was questioned about the notice given by the education department officer he said the department tried to pressurize the school on the Pro-CAA event. According to him, nobody has the right to question CAA as its government circular.
Somaiya said, “No one can question CAA”.
When Somaiya was questioned about action against the school and he said the school has closed the matter but I want to take action against the officer who has indulged in vendetta politics.
