Aurangabad: A case has been registered against MNS president Raj Thackeray in Aurangabad. Police had laid down 16 conditions for Raj Thackeray’s rally. However, Raj Thackeray has been charged with violating 12 of them and making provocative statements at a rally in Aurangabad. The First Information Report (FIR) have been registered against Raj Thackeray at the City Chowk police station in Aurangabad.
A case has also been registered against the organizers including Raj Thackeray. Police have registered a non-bailable case against Raj Thackeray under sections 116, 117, 153 (a) and MPO 135. Raj Thackeray has been named as the main accused in the case filed by the police.
In 2008, Mr Thackeray was booked under sections 109 and 117 (abetment of offence) of IPC for allegedly making inflammatory speeches.
While issuing the non-bailable warrant on April 6, Judicial Magistrate, First Class at Shirala in Sangli district asked Mumbai police commissioner to arrest the MNS chief and present him before the court.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Director General of Police Rajneesh Sheth had called a review meeting with state Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil today (May 3) on the background of law and order. After the meeting, the Director General will hold a press conference and inform the media that strict action will be taken against those who take law and order into their hands.
When the Director General was asked about Raj Thackeray’s meeting in Aurangabad, he said, “The Aurangabad Commissioner of Police has completed the study of Raj Thackeray’s speech and the police are capable of taking appropriate action.”

In 2008, MNS workers had staged a protest in Shirala against the arrest of Mr Thackeray in an agitation seeking priority for local youth in jobs.
A local MNS functionary claimed there was a government rule which states that political cases prior to 2012 should be withdrawn. However, this case is being raked up as Mr Thackeray raised the issue of loudspeakers atop mosques, he added.
