Andhra Pradesh: Man Kills Sister To Claim Rs 1 Crore Insurance, Arrested

A real estate businessman named Malapati Ashok Kumar in Prakasam district has been arrested for allegedly murdering his divorced younger sister to claim Rs 1 Crore insurance. He has been arrested for committing the crime.

As per the investigation, Kumar was facing significant debt and planned to kill her sister to claim the insurance money and stage the death as an accident.

Kumar took his sister to Ongole in his car under the pretext of a hospital visit, and while going back home, he gave her sleeping pills and smothered her to death.
The police said that the man has been arrested under various sections of the IPC, including 120 (B), 302, and 201.

On Wednesday, at least nine Indian nationals were killed in a road accident. The accident occurred near Jizan, in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. The Indian Consulate in Jeddah confirmed the incident and expressed condolences.

Following the incident, the consulate released a public statement. It assured full support to the affected families.

The Indian mission in Jeddah further confirmed that it is in touch with the local authorities in Jizan and the victims’ relatives. A dedicated helpline has also been established.

In a post on X, the consulate expressed its condolences. It wrote, “We deeply mourn the tragic loss of 9 Indian nationals in a road accident, near Jizan, in the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our heartfelt condolences to the families affected”.

“The Consulate General of India in Jeddah is providing full support and is in touch with the authorities and families. We also wish a speedy recovery to the injured. A dedicated helpline has been set up for further queries”.

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also expressed grief over the incident. He stated that he had spoken to the Consul General in Jeddah. The EAM also expressed his condolences through a post on Social media platform X.

He wrote, “Grieved to learn of this accident and the loss of lives. Spoke with our Consul General in Jeddah, who is in touch with the concerned families. He is extending fullest support in this tragic situation”.
