Sabira Bano Azgar Sheikh, who lived an hour from her daughter’s home in Mumbai, decided to visit her daughter in Kurla’s Qureshi Nagar Area.
Instead of getting a warm welcome, she was allegedly murdered by her daughter, who thought that her mother loved her elder sister more than her. The 41-year-old daughter has been arrested.
The accused has been identified as Reshma Muzaffar Qazi, who allegedly stabbed her mother, who was 62 years old, Sabira Bano Azgar Sheikh, during an argument.
According to the police, the longstanding resentment between Reshma and her mother led to the killing, as Reshma believed her mother favoured her elder sister over her.
Sabira Bano Azgar Sheikh used to live with her son in Mumbra. The confrontation quickly escalated, with Reshma accusing her mother of harbouring bias. The argument turned violent when Reshma retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her mother to death, according to the police.
After stabbing her mother to death, Reshma went to the Chunabhatti police station and confessed her crime. The Police officers visited the crime scene, confirmed the death, and took Reshma into custody.
During the investigation, the statements from family members and neighbours are recorded to determine the sequence of events and assess Reshma’s mental Health.
