“Authorised Campaign To Intimidate Or Kill Sikh Separatists”: Canada Alleges HM Amit Shah

Canada’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Morrison, on Tuesday, alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah authorised a “campaign to intimidate or kill” Sikh separatists in Canada, according to a report by CBC.

Morrison made the remarks at a Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security hearing on the “electoral interference and criminal activities in Canada by agents of the Government of India.”

Canadian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison told a parliamentary panel on Tuesday that he told the Washington Post that Shah was behind the plots. “The journalist called me and asked if it (Shah) was that person. I confirmed it was that person,” Morrison told the committee without providing further details or evidence. The High Commission of India in Ottawa and the Indian foreign ministry have yet to issue a statement.

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday declared the enforcement of section 144 of the CrPC in all the districts for the upcoming one-month after the horrifying murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur aroused uproar throughout the whole state.

New Delhi: According to Asian News International (ANI), the Udaipur killing event was denounced by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind on Tuesday as being against both Islam and the law of the land.

According to a statement from the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Halceemuddin Qasmi, general secretary of the organisation, “has condemned the incident of brutal killing in Udaipur apparently on the pretext of the insult to the Prophet (PBUH), and has called it against the law of land and against the religion of Islam.”

It added, “Whoever committed this act cannot be justified in any way, according to what has been spoken, as it is against both our religion and the law of the land. No one has the authority to impose his own laws in our nation because there is a legal system in place. All country residents were urged to control their emotions and uphold the country’s peace by Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi.”

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday ordered the application of section 144 of the CrPC in all districts for the upcoming month after the horrifying murder of a tailor in Udaipur generated uproar throughout the whole state, as reported by ANI.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established by the state government to look into the situation. The SIT is made up of the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Ashok Kumar Rathore from the Special Operations Group, Prafulla Kumar from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Inspector General of Police (IG), and two officers with the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and Additional SP.

On Tuesday, all internet services were shut off in the state. Rajendra Bhatt, the divisional commissioner for Udaipur, urged the people to keep calm.

“We want Udaipur residents to uphold the peace. The family of the victim Kanhaiya Lal will receive compensation in the amount of 5 lakhs, and the dependents have been promised employment through UIT’s placement service,” Mr. Bhatt stated. Every district of Rajasthan’s police force is on high alert.

Vikas Sharma, the Ajmer SP, told ANI, “Due to the current circumstances, Section 144 has been implemented throughout the state and the entire district. The organisers have cancelled the Shanti March. We ask the populace to uphold the peace. Police officers’ vacations have been cancelled, and they are expected to return back. They are being used for police enforcement work. We’ll make sure the peace is upheld and punish anyone trying to sabotage it harshly.”

An official with the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is part of the NIA team, a source said ANI while requesting anonymity, adding that the action was taken in response to a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

After inspecting the crime scene, the NIA team is expected to file a complaint in accordance with the terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, according to government sources.

The incident happened in the Maldas neighbourhood of Udaipur. According to authorities, the two suspects released a video on social media shortly after the crime gloating about the beheading and also threatening the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the event, the two suspects were detained shortly after.

“The suspects have both been taken into custody, and law and order is being maintained. Some individuals tried to exit the byways but were restrained. a curfew was enforced on the neighbourhood,” Udaipur SP Manoj Kumar stated.

To improve force mobility and keep cops on the ground, a state-wide alert has also been sent to all superintendents of police and inspector generals.
