Indicating at the fraudster Nirav Modi and absconding Lalit Modi who is wanted in IPL scam, Rahul Gandhi said the name Modi itself suggests a collusion of crony capitalists.

On the second day of Congress plenary, Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed the party workers gathered at the spot. Gandhi who was training guns at the opposition BJP did not miss any chance to slam the ruling government. From Rafale deal to Judge Loya murder case, he lashed out at the BJP in his speech. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul said that the name “Modi” symbolises the nexus between crony capitalists and politicians.

Indicating at the fraudster Nirav Modi and absconding Lalit Modi who is wanted in IPL scam, Rahul Gandhi said the name Modi itself suggests a collusion of crony capitalists. He also invoked the legend of Mahabharata. Rahul said, “Thousands of years ago, the battle was between the truth and lies. BJP and RSS are power hungry like Kauravas.” He also compared the Congress with Pandavas who fight by the truth.

Accepting that the Congress did not deliver according to the expectations of the Indians in the last three years of the UPA regime, Rahul said that the Indians have high expectations from the Congress party. Taking a jibe at BJP, Rahul Gandhi said the Indian people will accept a leadership from BJP that is power-hungry and lies. “Because they know that is what the BJP is designed for. But the people will never accept the same from the Congress,” Rahul added. Launching a scathing attack on BJP’s parent organization RSS, he said while BJP is a voice of an organization, Congress is the voice of the nation.

Addressing the organizational issues in the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi said that there is a wall between the leaders and party workers. However, he promised that with the guidance and help of senior members of the party he will work on breaking this wall with love. He also appealed the youths to join Congress party in large numbers. He said, “Congress party belongs to you. We want to open our doors to your talent, your bravery and your energy. This country is struggling and it needs you.”

He further talked about the issues plaguing India. From the farmers’ crisis to education and rising unemployment, he said the Congress government if voted back to power will work on these issues.
