Atleast 8 feared dead, more injured fire at chemical factory in Maharashtra

Waghadi (Maharashtra) | At least eight people are feared dead and many injured in a massive fire at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Dhule district, police said.

Multiple cylinder blasts caused the fire, at the chemical factory in Waghadi village in Shirpur taluka.

At least 100 workers were present inside the factory when the incident occurred around 9:45 am on Saturday.

Pictures and videos show thick black smoke rising above the factory.

Fire tenders are on the spot and efforts are on douse the fire. Various teams of police, disaster management, fire brigade are conducting rescue operations.

Casualties are expected to increase.

“Prima facie, multiple cylinders exploded at the factory. At least eight bodies have been recovered by police and rescue teams so far. Rescue operation is on,” the Shirpur police station officer said.
