According to CAIT, several changes were made to the GST rules on December 22 last year and thereafter. In this, the officers were given more authority. “Now any officer can suspend or cancel the GST registration number of any merchant for any reason. The bank can also seize account and property. Transport and businessmen are concerned with the new e-way bill rule, effective from January 1, as the limit of e-way bill has been increased from 100 km to 200 km. In fact, in the budget of 2021-22, section 129 of the e-way bill was changed. Accordingly, if there is any mistake in the bill, then both tax and penalty will be levied. Also, the tax which used to be refunded will not be there now.

All state transport unions have also supported CAIT in opposition to the new e-way bill legislation. Transport offices will remain closed during this period. Booking, delivery, loading and unloading of goods will remain closed. All transport companies have been asked to park the vehicles between 6 am to 8 pm.
