The journalist who tested positive for coronavirus had attended the last press conference by Kamal Nath as Chief Minister.
Bhopal| A case has been registered against a Bhopal-based journalist who had attended Kamal Nath’s press conference on March 20 in which he announced his resignation from the Chief Ministerial post. The journalist’s daughter had come from the UK and was advised a ‘Home quarantine’ since then.
Days after the press conference his daughter and the journalist have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Shyamala Hills police station registered a case against the journalist on Friday night under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), Bhopal Police spokesperson informed.
The journalist was booked under these charges after he violated the government’s preventive orders on the coronavirus pandemic.

The journalist’s daughter, who is a post-graduate law student, had returned from London and landed in Bhopal on March 18. She had been advised a home quarantine after arriving. Despite the instructions, the journalist attended the Kamal Nath press conference on 22 March in which he announced his resignation, official sources said.
On March 22, the daughter of the journalist tested positive for Covid-19. Three days later, the journalist was tested positive too, creating panic across the media persons who attended the press conference on 22 March.
Madhya Pradesh has reported 33 positive cases of coronavirus so far. Out of these, 2 patients from Indore and Ujjain have passed away due to coronavirus.
