BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde Terms BSNL Employees “Anti-National”, Threatens To Remove Them From Jobs

Bengaluru| Controversy’s favourite child BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde has once again made a shocking statement. Hegde has described the employees of the state-run telecom company BSNL as traitors and “Anti-Nationals”. The BJP MP says that these employees do not want to work for the development of the company which is in crisis. He said that the government will privatize BSNL, for which 88000 employees will be laid off.

At an event held on Monday in Kumta in Karnataka’s Uttar Kannada district, Hegde said that the entire BSNL system was full of traitors. “I am using the right words to describe them,” he further justified his choice of words for the BSNL employees. He further said that even the Narendra Modi-led government was unable to overcome the problems faced by PSUs. A video of this statement of the BJP MP is going viral.

“The Govt Will Revive BSNL By Privatizing It”

The BJP MP said, “The government has given money, people want service and infrastructure is available. But BSNL employees do not want to work. PM speaks of Digital India. He provided technology and funds. But they are not willing to work.” Hegde said the central government would privatize BSNL and revive the company.

“BSNL became a black spot for the country”

Anant Kumar Hegde said that BSNL has become a black spot on the whole country and “we will end it”. “The central government will bring in disinvestment policy and shut down BSNL. In the coming days, the vacancy created by the closure of BSNL will be filled by private companies,” he added.

The company has a total of 1.53 lakh employees

In the financial year 2018-19, BSNL’s total revenue was Rs 19,321 crore, while it had a loss of Rs 14,904 crore. At that time, the company’s total assets were close to Rs 1.16 lakh crore. The company had a total of 1.53 lakh employees on a year-on-year basis. Of these, 78,569 employees have applied for VRS. This VRS scheme was between 4th November to 31st December 2019.
