Coronavirus Kills 3 Lakh Globally, Cases In India Rise Above 81,000

India registered nearly 4,000 COVID-19 related cases in 24 hours amid national lockdown alarming the governments across the country.

New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 81,970 including over 27,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 2,649 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, 100 casualties were recorded.

A staggering 3,967 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, reported 27,524
with over 1,000 deaths. It also recorded it’s the highest spike with 1,600 cases in the past 24 hours.

Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, figures climbed above 14,500.

Follows Tamil Nadu witnessed the sharpest hike in fresh cases this week. However, saw a decline in the last 24 hours as less than 500 people tested positive for COVID-19. Total cases in the state are 9,674.

Gujarat with 9,591 cases of highly infectious coronavirus, third highest in the country.

Delhi recorded 8,470 COVID-19 cases and 115 fatalities.

Across the country, at least 27,920 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 33%.

Currently, there are 51,401 active COVID-19 patients in the country

A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 4,400,000 while the death toll crossed 302,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States has entered into a grim situation as it recorded 1.3 Million cases of COVID-19, about one-third of the entire world’s caseload, as per Johns Hopkins University data.
