At least 50 deaths have been reported due to COVID-19, the highest India has seen in a single day taking the toll to 640.
New Delhi| 50 new fatalities and 1383 new COVID-19 cases recorded across the country in the last 24 hours. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfareās updated figures on Wednesday morning, the total number of positive cases in India stands at 19,984 nearing 20,000-mark.
The total number of cases include 3870 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 640 casualties, health ministry data showed.
The total number of cases also includes 77 foreign nationals.
Maharashtra alone added another 552 novel Coronavirus patients on Tuesday.
Gujarat at 2,178, now has the most number of COVID-19 cases in India after Maharashtra, 5,218.
Following Maharashtra and Gujarat, the worst affected states are Delhi (2,156), Tamil Nadu (1,596), Rajasthan (1,659), Madhya Pradesh (1,552), Uttar Pradesh (1294) and Telangana (928).

The global death toll from the coronavirus has now crossed over 1,70,000 people, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
