Last week Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that state police have been working “day in day out” to stem COVID-19 spread in the state.

Anil Deshmukh said, “The festival of Eid is also around the corner, and proper law and order have to be ensured. The police should get some rest for that. Hence, we have requested the Centre to deploy 20 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), that is 2,000 personnel”.

Following the data of BMC, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai stands at 21,152 and the death toll at 757. The BMC has come up with a revised protocol for sealing of buildings.

BMC states, “Once a building or a floor or a wing is sealed, the BMC will hand over the declaration of the sealed area to office-bearers of the society and explain the precautions to be taken”.

The civic body further advised societies to not give entry to maids, vendors or service providers.
