Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Siachen glacier on Monday

New Delhi | Newly-appointed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting the Siachen Glacier on Monday.

Singh on his first visit to a defence base outside Delhi will be visiting the Siachen Glacier regarded as the highest battlefield in the World a disputed region between India and Pakistan. He will be accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. Both Indian and Pakistan have a permanent military base in the region at the height of over 6000 metres.

Rajnath Singh has replaced Nirmala Sitharaman as the new Defence minister as the new Narendra Modi cabinet was announced on Friday.
