“Forget & Forgive”: Ashok Gehlot’s Message To MLAs As Pilot Camp Makes A Return

After meeting the party MLAs staying at a hotel in Jaisalmer last evening, Gehlot said they were “upset” after the truce and it was “natural”.

Jaipur| Two days after amends were made between rebel leader Sachin Pilot and Congress leadership after in a meeting attended by Gandhis, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has made it clear that the issue is far from over for him.

After meeting the party MLAs staying at a hotel in Jaisalmer last evening, Gehlot said they were “upset” after the truce and it was “natural”.

“It is natural for the MLAs to be upset. The manner in which this episode occurred and the way in which they stayed for a month, it was natural. I’ve explained to them that sometimes we need to be tolerant if we have to serve the nation, state, people, and save the democracy,” Rajasthan CM told reporters.

After meeting Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on Monday, Sachin Pilot toned down his rebellion and signalled that he will be returning back to the party’s fold once again. Yesterday, as Pilot made his return to Jaipur after a while, Gehlot was away in Jaisalmer to make a point.

According to sources, the two are yet to meet after the crisis and are expected to face each other before the special session of the Rajasthan assembly on Friday.

Pilot and Gehlot were both involved in a war of words during the political crisis that unfolded in the last one month in Rajasthan. Pilot, who was sacked as Deputy CM and PCC Chief, admitted that he was hurt after Gehlot’s Nikamma (useless) remark.

“Some unparliamentary and inappropriate terms were used. Not to say that I was not offended, I am human. I did feel hurt and disappointed, but we have larger mission and name-calling should not be a deterrent,” he said.

Gehlot, on the other hand, said if the party had decided to forgive the rebel MLAs, he would “give them a warm hug”.
