Government can’t shrug it’s shoulders in ICICI bank scam: Congress

RBI has accepted that ₹23000cr worth of bank scams have occurred in the past year.

New Delhi: The Congress Party on Monday questioned the negligence of the Union government in the ICICI bank scam. Addressing the media Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said “ICICI had given loans to Videocon, and ICICI’s CEO Chanda Kochhar’s husband was a stakeholder in Videocon company. This is a case of conflict of interest. Govt can’t shrug its shoulders and claim to not interfere in this issue.”

“Some whistleblowers have complained about the ICICI bank for their mismanagement. Has any investigation taken place on this issue?” questioned Congress.

Mr. Khera further added that “Every day there’s a new bank scam unearthed. RBI has accepted that ₹23000cr worth of bank scams have occurred in the past year.”

Attacking the BJP led NDA government for its Economic failure, the Congress spokesperson said “In past 4 years NPAs have risen by 230%. By Dec 2017, ₹8,31,000cr was the amount of NPAs disclosed by govt itself in Lok Sabha.”

Will the acting Financial Minister Piyush Goyal declare that they have no relationship with any loanee of banks? alleged Congress. Commenting on the recent fire in the Income Tax office in Mumbai, Congress asked Investigation files, that contain the record of defaulters, have been lost in a fire. How is it that big businessmen get off easy but debt-ridden farmers suffer?
