Mumbai | Consecutive rains for the third day has led to life in Mumbai on Monday to a standstill. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning an ‘extremely heavy rainfall’ over the city and suburbs in the coming days.
“The city will witness continuous rain with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places and extremely heavy falls at one or two places very likely,” said IMD official. Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde has declared a holiday for the day in all schools and colleges of Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
“Due to water over 180 mm on Up fast line at Nallasopara, traffic stopped on it, hence there is a delay of about 15 minutes in suburban trains. Other 3 lines at Nallasopara working with trains running on restricted speed,” Western Railway tweeted.

Fishermen have been advised to not go out in the coastal and open sea during next 24 hours as the sea will be rough.
City’s suburban areas observed a heavy downpur in the weekend which resulted in the situation to get worsened. A woman was electrocuted in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai and two people were swept away in heavy rain in neighbouring Thane district. The suburban areas of Mumbai witnessed approximately 133 mm of rain while the city area saw only 50 mm of rain approximately in the weekend.
