Income Tax Dept Raids Congress’ Bihar Headquarters, Rs. 5 Lakh Cash Recovered From Sadaqat Ashram

The Income Tax Department on Thursday raided the Congress headquarters in Bihar just a few days before assembly elections in the state. In a car outside Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, a lump sum of Rs 5 lakh was found after which the raid was carried, reports suggested.

Income Tax teams, according to reports, have been investigating the Congress offices for hours through the day. A notice was pasted at the Congress headquarters.

Congress leaders Shakti Singh Gohil and Randeep Surjewala among others are being questioned in this matter, India.com reported.

 

Earlier, the Congress party was served a notice by the IT department in a matter related to a person who was caught allegedly with cash amount. He was caught by IT Department after he came to Congress office in Patna.

The person caught by IT said in his statement that he cash from Congress Office was supposed to be delivered to someone in Patna, News18 reported.

The Congress party has now been issued notice for the same, asking the party about the source of funds and who in Congress gave cash to this individual, reports said.
