India Allows Pakistan PM Imran Khan To Use Its Airspace En Route Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka cancelled Imran Khan’s speech to avoid a confrontation in relations with India. The address was to be held on 24 February.

India has once again generously allowed Pakistan to enter its air range. According to sources, India has approved Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to use its airfield to visit Sri Lanka.

Imran Khan is going on a two-day tour of Sri Lanka. Pakistani PM Imran was going to address the Parliament of Sri Lanka. But, Sri Lanka cancelled his speech to avoid a confrontation in relations with India. The address was to be held on 24 February.

According to Sri Lankan media reports, Sri Lanka has turned down the Pakistani PM’s plans on fear of deteriorating relations with India. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Parliament of Sri Lanka on 13 March 2015.

Anti-Muslim sentiments have risen in Sri Lanka in the last few months as Buddhists have been protesting on issues such as animal sacrifice in mosques. Because of this it was hoped that Imran Khan could use the Muslim card during his visit to Sri Lanka. He played a similar card during his visit to Afghanistan last year.
