India-China face off in Ladakh, tensions eased after talks

TestHostEntry

Ladakh | A face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers on Wednesday near Pangong lake in Eastern Ladakh eased after delegation-level talks were held.

The stand-off started while the Indian Army was patrolling along the northern bank of the lake when the Chinese troops objected to their presence. A delegation-level talks were held that helped de-escalate and fully disengage, army officials said.

“There was a face-off between the two armies but it got over after the delegation-level talks between two sides. The face-off is over now and it had de-escalated and disengaged fully after delegation-level talks yesterday [Wednesday],” the Indian Army said.

After Centre decided to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Beijing had said it was concerned over India’s decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir and added it was “unacceptable” that New Delhi had changed Ladakh’s status.

Incidentally, the confrontation took place in the same area where Indian and Chinese troops had engaged in a bitter scuffle during the Doklam standoff.

China has been a vocal critic of India’s move in the northern state, an has openly supported Pakistan.
