1,684 new cases were reported 37 people died in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry data.

In Maharashtra, 778 new coronavirus cases were reported on Thursday, taking the state’s novel coronavirus tally to 6,427. 14 COVID-19 patients died on Thursday, taking the total to 283.
With 522 more people testing positive, Mumbai alone has 4,025 coronavirus cases now. The rise was the single-biggest surge for the city since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of deaths in the city rose by six to 167, officials said.

In Mumbai’s Dharavi, Asia’s biggest slum that houses over 8 lakh people, the number of cases rose to 214 and the number of deaths to 13.
So far, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in India, over 5 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19.
Globally, the total number of coronavirus cases has topped 2.7 million, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, while the death toll has gone above 1.9 lakh.
