“There are always some sporadic incidents after elections and that is why I announced no celebrations,” Mamata Banerjee added.
On Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that all those who have died in post-poll violence in the state since the May 2 election results will be given compensation worth Rs 2 lakh.
The TMC supremo, addressing the media, announced: “Rs 2 lakh compensation will be given to each of the victims, irrespective of their political colour.”
The BJP has claimed that at least 14 of its party workers have been killed in the state since the May 2 election results declared TMC to have swept the polls.
“I can see some central ministers are coming here to provoke riots at a time when all political activity is curbed. There are always some sporadic incidents after elections and that is why I announced no celebrations,” Mamata Banerjee added.
“It has not even been 24 hours since I’ve taken over and already letters and central teams are being sent,” she further said.
Mamata Banerjee, talking about the BJP leaders visiting Bengal over the violence and alleged attacks on party workers, said, “Since BJP has got more seats in Cooch Behar, they are going overboard.”
“BJP leaders don’t come here when people fail to get oxygen, they don’t send teams when Hathras happens, but they sent teams here in Bengal,” she said.
“Let me say this that whoever is coming from outside, even if it is the central ministers, RT-PCR is mandatory even if they come on special flights,” the West Bengal CM added.
