Jharkhand HC rejects Lalu Yadav’s bail extension; asked to surrender till August 30

Ranchi | Jharkhand High Court on Friday rejected Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s plea for a 3-months bail extension on medical grounds. The court has also asked the RJD chief to surrender in front of the court before August 30.

Speaking to the media Yadav’s lawyer Prabhat Kumar said, “Yadav who is currently admitted in the Asian Heart Institute will now undergo treatment in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences located in Rachi.” Earlier the Jharkhand High Court had extended the provisional bail of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad, convicted in four fodder scam cases, till August 27.

Lalu Yadav has been convicted in four cases of multi-crore rupees fodder scam related to illegal withdrawal of money from government treasuries in different districts for the animal husbandry department in Bihar in 1990. Yadav has been awarded 14 years of imprisonment in the fodder scam.
