Lookout Notices Issued Against Farmer Leaders By Delhi Police, Passports Revocation Process To Be Initiated

Delhi Police Commissioner S N Srivastava, during the press conference, said farmer unions did not follow conditions set for the rally.

A lookout circular against the farmer leaders named in FIRs has been issued by the Delhi Police. The police will also initiate the process of surrender of their passport to ensure they do not leave the country.

According to news agency PTI, the decision was taken in the review meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah. Farmer leaders will be asked to surrender their passports.

In the FIRs for breach of NOC issued regarding farmers’ tractor rally, 37 farmer leaders including Rakesh Tikait, Darshan Pal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil, Yogendra Yadav, Medha Patkar and Joginder Singh Ugraha have been named.

Multiple IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections, including Sec 307 (attempt to murder), 147 (punishment for rioting) and 353 (assault/criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) have been mentioned in the FIR.

Mr Shah has been continuously monitoring the situation in Delhi and held meetings even late in the night on Wednesday and again early on Thursday, officials aware of the development told PTI.

Following the violence in the national capital on Republic day, farmers have been accused of inciting the protesters that led to the chaos on 26 January. More than 300 police personnel were injured in the attack, according to the police.

Delhi Police Commissioner S N Srivastava, during the press conference, said farmer unions did not follow conditions set for the rally that was supposed to be held from 12 PM to 5 PM with 5,000 tractors and accused them of betrayal.
