Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the central government does not tell the truth but only misleads and that the ruling BJP talks about diversionary things like religion but not development.
Jaipur: Addressing the public at Jaipur’s Congress Rally, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a “tourist PM.” Referring to the Lakhimpur incident, she said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi roamed the whole world but didn’t go ten kilometers away to meet protesting farmers.
She leveled, “Our tourist PM roamed the whole world but didn’t go ten kilometers away to meet our [protesting] farmers. This is the type of government we have.”
Further, she said, “Crores of rupees go into advertisements in Uttar Pradesh, but not for the welfare of the farmers. The central government does not want the welfare of the people. The government is only working for a few industrialists.”
“The government that Congress built for several decades is being sold to a few select industrialists. Tell me, what have you done in seven years?” Priyanka Gandhi continued.
She also alleged that the central government does not tell the truth but only misleads and that the ruling BJP talks about diversionary things like religion but not development when elections are near.
At the rally, Priyanka Gandhi paid tributes to late CDS, General Bipin Rawat, by observing silence. He, along with his wife and eleven others, lost his life in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8.
Slamming the BJP over inflation Priyanka said the Narendra Modi-led central government was working with a âfew industrialistsâ and asked what it has done for the common man. She said that when elections come, BJP leaders talk of China or other countries, casteism, communalism but not about the struggles of the people.
âThose who ask what has Congress done in 70 years, I want to ask you, leave this talk about 70 years. What have you done in the past seven years? The AIIMS, the airport from where your plane flies, the Congress built them. BJP govt is selling what Congress created in 70 years. This government is working only for its industrialists,â she said.
âWhy have you all come here in large numbers? You have come here because your life has become difficult. Today, one gas cylinder costs Rs. 1,000 mustard oil has become Rs. 200, petrol-diesel prices are sky-high. Your daily lives have become difficult and nobody listens to you,â Gandhi added.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot praised Rahul Gandhi for raising the issue of inflation. âThe seven years of misrule of the Modi govt is in front of you. If someone has raised voice in the country as the opposition, it is Rahul Gandhi,â he said.
