Rajini Can’t? Tamil Superstar Dissolves Political Outfit, Says No Plan To Enter Politics

Last year, at the peak of suspense around his first electoral plunge, Rajinikanth announced that he will stay away from politics citing health reasons.

Chennai| Shutting down all the speculations around his re-entry into the world of politics, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Monday announced that he has no political ambitions now. In a press release issued by him, Rajinikanth said that he has no plans of entering politics. He also dissolved the quasi-political outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram. The group will now be a platform for fans. It will not pursue any political goals.

The 70-year-old Tamil Superstar decided to meet the leaders of the RMM after returning from the US. As he was headed to the meeting, speculations started doing rounds that he might re-enter the politics.

Last year, at the peak of suspense around his first electoral plunge, he announced that he will stay away from politics citing health reasons. His decision ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections disappointed scores of fans who later took to the street with slogans like Vaa Thalaiva Vaa (Come Leader Come) asking him to usher in a new era in Tamil Nadu politics.

While the fans kept pressing Rajinikanth to rethink his decision, he requested them to not join agitations any further. He asked them not to pressurize him and “not pain me again and again”.
