Before the Parliament proceedings began, Congress MP Manickam Tagore had said that the government was not allowing the opposition to speak in Parliament. Tagore said the opposition should be heard and the Pegasus issue should be discussed in the presence of the Prime Minister or the Home Minister.
Earlier on Thursday also, the uproar continued in the Parliament. Due to this, the proceedings of both the houses were adjourned for the day after noon. However, amidst the din, the Lok Sabha passed two bills without discussion. Similar scenes were witnessed in Rajya Sabha. Earlier, when the proceedings of the Lok Sabha began, Speaker Om Birla expressed displeasure over the indecent behaviour of the opposition members. He said that he was deeply hurt by such incidents.
In The First Week, Parliament Functioned only For 4 Hours
In the first week of the monsoon session, opposition parties in both houses of Parliament created ruckus over three new central agricultural laws and the Pegasus Snooping case, among many other issues. Last week only on Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha could function normally for four hours, when the situation in the country due to Coronavirus was discussed on the basis of mutual agreement between all the parties.
