Rampur Man Asks for ‘Hot Samosas’ on Lockdown Helpline, Asked to Clean Drain

Rampur| The Uttar Pradesh government has set up a helpline number in order to help needy and marginalized during the lockdown. Although the helpline has been set up for those who are looking for aid from the state, the Rampur administration has been receiving several odd and unnecessary calls. In a recent case, it was a man who demanded hot Samosas delivered at his doorstep by the administration.

Frustrated by the continuous calls by this resident, the Rampur district magistrate decided to teach him a lesson and set a precedent.

After receiving the calls demanding Samosas, DM delivered the snack to the resident. But after that, the local administration made him clean the drain in the area as a punishment.

According to the Times of India report, Rampur administration has received many such calls since the helpline has been made public. A day before some guy wanted a pizza delivered at his place.

DM Aunjaneya Kumar Singh, irritated by these calls, said they had to send the samosas. However, the guy was also made to perform social service by cleaning the drain in his area.

In his tweet, the DM has warned the residents not to make such calls in a crisis situation like lockdown.

India has been put under a 21-day lockdown till 14 April in which all private shops and businesses are shut except the essential ones.

Uttar Pradesh government has set up a helpline for people to inform the administration if they are ill or showing symptoms of coronavirus.
