Saradha Chit Fund Scam: CBI may investigate Rajeev Kumar today

According to reports, if Rajeev Kumar refuses to cooperate with the investigation then the CBI may even arrest him.

 

Kolkata| West Bengal on Sunday witnessed another CBI vs State police drama unfold as the CBI reached former police commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s house with a formal summon. However, the team could not find the IPS officer at home. Kumar, a close aide of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is facing investigation in connection with the Saradha Chit fund scam. He is accused of destroying key evidence in the case. The CBI has now called him for questioning in its Kolkata office today.

According to reports, if Rajeev Kumar refuses to cooperate with the investigation then the CBI may even arrest him. Earlier, a lookout notice was issued on the demand of the CBI team investigating the Saradha chit fund scam. According to the notice, for the next year, if Rajiv Kumar tries to leave the country, he will be arrested at the airport or port and he will be handed over to the CBI.

Officials said on Sunday that the CBI has alerted all the airports and immigration officials this week to stop Kumar from leaving the country and to inform the agency about any possible steps taken by him.
