“Served Party For 40 Years, Is This The Reward I Get?”: Bengal BJP Leader Rahul Sinha Irked

One of the longest serving leaders of the saffron party in West Bengal, Rahul Sinha, could not contain his dismay after being replaced as a national general secretary by a former Trinamool Congress MP.

After BJP President J P Nadda announced his new team on Saturday, the reshuffle seems to have not gone down well with some of the party’s members. One of the longest serving leaders of the saffron party in West Bengal, Rahul Sinha, could not contain his dismay after being replaced as a national general secretary by a former Trinamool Congress MP while another defector from the ruling party Mukul Roy was promoted.

“For 40 years I have served the BJP as a soldier. I have to step aside because a Trinamool Congress leader is coming – there can be nothing more unfortunate than this reward for serving the BJP since birth,” Sinha said in a video message posted on Twitter- uploaded both in Bengali and Hindi.

“I will not say anything more about this. I don’t want to say a thing in favour or against the reward that I have received from the party. Whatever I have to say, I will say in 10 to 12 days and decide my future course of action,” Sinha added.

Sinha was replaced by Anupam Hazra as general secretary, who while talking about Sinha’s response, said: “Mr Sinha may have felt hurt and I will talk to him at earliest. There are ups and downs in one’s life. I am sure he will understand,” NDTV reported.

Earlier, in a major reshuffle in the ranks of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), it’s President JP Nadda on Saturday announced his new team with a few names being dropped and few faces being introduced from states where the party is trying to develop the leadership.

While Ram Madhav, Murlidhar Rao, and Anil Jain were removed from the top post, NTR’s daughter Purandeshwari was appointed as a general secretary. After Akalis withdrew from the government, Tarun Chug from Punjab has also been brought in as a general secretary.

Pankaja Munde, daughter of Former Union minister Gopinath Munde, is now BJP’s secretary, while former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje has been appointed as BJP vice president.
