Supreme Court To Decide On Quantum Of Punishment For Prashant Bhushan In Contempt Case

The SC bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra even asked Prashant Bhushan to tender unconditional apology, but he refused.

 

New Delhi| The Supreme Court will today pronounce the quantum of punishment for activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan in contempt case against him. He was held guilty of Contempt of court for his two tweets: One on CJI SA Bobde and another on the judiciary in general.

The SC bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra even asked him to tender unconditional apology, but he refused. In his latest statement to the court, he said that his apology would be insincere and “Contempt of his conscience”.

As per law, the punishment in Contempt cases could be six months of jail or fine upto rs 2000 or both.
