New Delhi| The top court today gave a week’s time to states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana to figure out common movement policy for inter-state movement in Delhi and the National Capital Area (NCR). The SC also ordered the centre to call up a common meeting of three states and decide on a common portal.

Amid a worrying surge in coronavirus cases, Delhi sealed its borders for a week on Monday. The sealing of the border came hours after Haryana opened the Gurgaon-Delhi border in compliance with the revised lockdown guidelines issued by the centre, which said non-essential inter-state movement of vehicles would now be allowed without e-passes or special permits.

Noida, in Uttar Pradesh, which shares a border with Delhi had sealed all the routes leading to the national capital in April in an attempt to curb the spread of coronavirus. The Noida administration on Sunday confirmed that the borders will stay closed till further notice, claiming that 42% of the coronavirus cases in the area are traced back to Delhi.

Heavy traffic jams were reported at the Gurgaon-Delhi border, with annoyed commuters pointing out that they were still being asked for e-pass despite the Haryana government’s orders.
