Manish Sisodia said people were facing a lot of problem due to the new system and it should be scrapped immediately
NEW DELHI| On Wednesday Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said he wrote to Union Minister Amit shah, seeking his intervention in scrapping the order which requires every coronavirus patient to visit a quarantine centre for clinical assessment.
Claiming that Delhi has been caught between Amit Shah model and Arvind Kejriwal model, Manish Sisodia said, “This is not a fight between Amit Shah’s model and Kejriwal’s model. We should implement a system in which people don’t face problems.”
Manish Sisodia said people were facing a lot of problem due to the new system and it should be scrapped immediately.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Union Home Minister himself was overseeing measures being taken to deal with the COVID-19 situation. The previous system should be implemented wherein teams of the district administration visited the house of an infected person for clinical assessment.
The Delhi Deputy CM said he had written to Lt Governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Tuesday on the same issue, but the AAP government was yet to receive a response from the Delhi L-G’s office.
On Tuesday Sisodia on online media briefing said, “Why should one go to the quarantine centre for a checkup? Has he made any mistake? At a time when the government should help him, we are giving him the punishment of standing in long queues.”
Delhi reporting nearly 3,000 cases every day and it was not feasible for every COVID-19 patient to undergo a clinical assessment at COVID quarantine centres.
He said that the lieutenant governor should call a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority and revert to the old system.
Last week, Baijal had issued an order, making it mandatory for every new Covid-19 patient to visit a care centre for clinical assessment to ascertain whether he requires hospitalisation or home isolation.
