“Why is Parliament running?” Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien questions PM Modi

“And you yourself mostly missing from Parliament floor”, Trinamool Congress Derek O’Brien asked PM Modi about his presence in Parliament

NEW DELHI| This morning on Friday the Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien took to twitter bashing on centre’s coronavirus advisory that has asked people to stay indoor Derek questioned: “Why is parliament running?”

The MP of Rajya Sabha tweeted, “Govt advisory asks people 65+ to stay home. Sunday curfew announced. And yet! Why is #Parliament running? Why this confused messaging? About 44% of MPs in RS and 22% of MPs in LS are 65 and above. Ignore advisory? And you yourself mostly missing from Parliament floor #COVID (sic)”.

On Thursday, the central government asked the citizen of India to be indoor and especially for the citizen of 65 years unless any essential need. This case is expectational for public representatives or doctors or government employees. The number in India has risen to 190 and has reported 4 death, three domestic and one foreigner (Italian) in the nation.

Also, on Thursday, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi urged people of India to stay indoor avoid the unnecessary visit outside the house. He also called for a “Janata curfew”.

PM Modi while addressing the nation said, “Under this Janata (public) curfew, no one should leave their home or gather in their neighbourhoods. Only those related to essential services should go out”.

On Thursday the MP of Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien tweeted a small video which says, “Parliament opened on March 2. Here we are today… March 19. We are told PM would address the nation at 8 pm. We are keen to know about the government measures. So far, we have had only one statement from the Health Minister.”

He criticizes PM Modi in his clip saying, “But a bigger question… Where’s the parliament? You want to run parliament. MPs are sitting in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha. Have you by any chance decided to address the nation without coming to parliament? I hope not”.

Earlier this week, the Trinamool Congress leader had called for better precautionary measures at parliament. He also delivered an address in the upper house on coronavirus pandemic when he was stopped by Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu as he tried to give a demonstration on washing hands as a measure to prevent contracting the infection.
